For decades, restrictive laws and social stigma have limited abortion access, especially for marginalized communities, including Black, Latinx, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, Indigenous, immigrant, rural, and low-income populations. The Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade has spurred extreme abortion bans in 21 states, making pregnancy less safe by closing clinics, reducing OBGYN availability, and denying essential care. We will support efforts to restore abortion access nationwide and advocate for a federal right to safe, legal abortion in every state, as well as ensuring abortion rights are protected in New York State.
