Increase Cash Assistance

Increase Cash Assistance

Cash benefits are intended to help low-income families, including many Housing Works clients, meet essential expenses, like housing, food, and medical costs. Yet, cash assistance grants have not been increased to meet the need demanded by inflation and New York’s rising cost of living. We support a 100% increase to New York’s basic and personal needs grants, which have not been increased since 2012 and 1997, respectively, through the passage of state legislation S5270A/A5500, S8655/A5507.

Our Mission

Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts.
