Expand Peer Led Mental Health Crisis Response
The Behavioral Health Emergency Assistance Response Division (B-HEARD), New York City’s alternative response to mental health crises, dispatches EMTs and mental health professionals instead of police for mental health-related 911 calls. New Yorkers like Win Rozario and Kawaski Trawick have been killed by police officers responding to mental health concerns. B-HEARD must be expanded to respond to a larger percentage of mental health calls and avoid future tragedies.
